The last of my GU10 from ebay with 60 5mm LED bulbs has died. I know they weren't good quality, they lasted just over a year and were on a far bit. Bulbs like the link below seem to be appearing on a lot of websites at the moment. Are they likely to be any better than the 60x5mm bulbs ?

I have 3 E27 60 led bulbs from ebay.. two went half out, but I was able to take them apart and get one running again with 59 leds and the other with like 40 "looks like a smily face now" LOL

I've seen the cree powered GU10s, I've got one aleady actually. They are expensive and from other postings on this forums might not last. I was just interested in the SMT idea, 35 watts equivilent in the right place is acceptable.

Jason77, hahaha...good stuff. I took the broken 60 LED GU10 apart, nothing looks wrong but the LEDs are all powered in sync so I guess one of them might just be dead?

Taht bulb only puts out 100 lumen. There are several cree powered MR16 bulbs that will be more reliable and put out more light on the market.
+1
If long lasting bulb is your requirement stay away from the multi 5mm/SMD showerhead types of bulbs. Stick with bulbs that use 1 watt, 3 watt, K2, Cree XRE, or SSC-P4 LEDs.

I clicked on products in the OP's link and the only bulb I would get is the 1 3 watt LED one. 60-80 lumens.

Now if you push 3 watts into some Cree LEDs you can get 180-200 lumens.

(I live in a 115V/60Hz country, am not familiar with 230V/50Hz stuff, sorry for linking to a site on the wrong side of the pond)

Edit
I did a quick google GU10 LED light bulb Cree -ebay language English, region UK. I would stick with bulbs such as these. The 2nd one looks like a GU10 version of the one I got.
Check colour temperature and beam angle before you buy!

Edit2
The 5mm/small SMDs just can not handle the power when the designers push them to produce more light.
Now if the designers push the Cree too hard the same thing will happen. The Cree is only rated for 700 mA (3W) for 24/7 use. That is why I do not link to the 1*5W as opposed to 3*1W.

Note also the lack of CE approval nor RoHS compliance.
