This one was truely a pain in the @ss!!
Getting the legs soldered onto the XP-E was sooooo nerve racking!
I used my drill press with an end mill to take the heatsink down to the desired dimensions. I took my time with this mod to make sure I didn't mess anything up and must have test fit everything like 20+ times to get it right.
An XP-E Q3-5A from Eprom (Thanks!!) was used for better tint. An McR10 reflector was used to help give this tiny light some throw. I drilled out the hole for the optic so the reflector would fit snugly.
The only thing I have to finish up and figure out is what to use as a window. I was going to use a domed lense from a telescope, but decided against it due to the thickness and extra machining involved to get it to fit right. I am thinking about filling the entire McR10 with Norland Optical Adhesive to make a solid connection.
My other H30 sports an XP-E Q3-5A that I recieved from another member in trade that was actually made at Zebralights factory!:naughty:
So now I have 2 H30's with nice tint and two beam profiles.:twothumbs
One for flood, one for throw.
Getting the H30 apart wasn't too difficult but is time consuming to make sure everything goes well. Doing this mod took a long time and tested my patiance, but was worth all the missing hair..
