Has anyone ever been to Surefire?

*The SF factory is a front. All of their products are really manufactured in Guangdong province and smuggled into this country inside pallets of Ramen noodles.

*joke alert

I visited SureFire some years ago before they expanded and was fortunate to see parts of SureFire that few SureFire employees even have access to in recent years.

I don't believe it is possible to arrange individual tours. They do not have a retail store although it may be possible to arrange to collect an order from them, or drop off an item for repair. Best to call first.

The parts of SureFire they have allowed tours of for Dealers are, I believe, parts of the CNC turning centre, and assembly plant, along with parts of customer service, dispatch and if I recall correctly, a repair workshop.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on being able to arrange a tour. I don't suppose it hurts to call and ask them though...

Size15's correct. I visit them every once in a while for warranty work. They do not have a storefront, only a receptionist, waiting room area and a glass case to showcase their small products. BTW, warranty service is excellent... bring it in, a tech looks at it and exchanges it out. And if not in stock, will ship the piece to you.

Call them up and let them know you have some CPF'ers interested, you never know.

I'll echo what the others have said. A small case in the "lobby" area (the same floor standing, square shaped case you'd see in retail stores) is really all there is to look at...and they have stacks of catalogs and whatnot.

If anyone has been to the Fry's in Fountain Valley, you were almost a stone's throw from Surefire.

Personally I think they should run tours like Jack Daniels does. Best advertising I ever saw, and I don't drink.

The new facility on Brookhurst is a bit better than the old one on Newhope. The new facility has only been open for a few months.

The reception area is larger and better furnished. An adjacent show room houses that old glass display case, but also features a display with handheld lights you can play with, as well as another display with weaponlights mounted on airsoft guns (MP5, M-16, a couple of M4 variants, and a variety of pistols) that you can pick up and handle.

really? I must have missed that. I went to SF twice in July, when i went back home to LA for SDCC. Both times i just sat at the reception foyer/lobby and waited to be seen. I bought a SC1 spares carrier and combat grips and some other misc accessories. I picked up their tactical and std catalog along with a surefire sponsored issue of combat gun magazine. Second time I went was due to a faulty MN21 bulb that lasted at most 6 mins of intermittent on times of a few seconds spread out in the course of two months. Clearly NOT the run times that the MN21 is supposed to be. I know SF says that they do not warranty the Bulbs but I think in my case it is definately not supposed to do that in such a short time. So they replaced it. Apparently the lady i spoke with is the head of tech support. when i explained that I was swapping the M3 head to the M6, she looked at me funny and said "that doesnt work" but i showed her that the MN15 bulb does run and mentioned that CPF members have tried this combination and gotten great results. She didnt really seem impressed. I think she just saw it as somewhat of a violation of warranty. although nothing says you cant do that to their lights.

Shame i missed the showroom.

Were you at the building on Brookhurst or Newhope? It's the Brookhurst facility that has the show room. It's through a doorway to the right after you go though the main doors into reception.

You might want to ask the receptionist or the customer service rep to see it next time you're there.

Within every hobby I have ever pursued I would easily rank Surefire within the top five manufactures I would even bother to waste my time visiting.

I would totally agree with that. I think its really fascinating how the niche market product developers (for any enthusiast hobby), create markets and consumer demand for products that don't even exist. Its fun to sit back and ride the wave as the niche slowly matures and evolves into an industry standard.
