HAS ANYONE PLOPPED A P7 IN A P2D OR P3D?

I was just thinking,I like the wall of light an L4 makes but it's to bright for close up work so hence my question.

different driver for more current? would heat up and melt!
these hosts wont be good for a p7 mod.

Using a diffuser of some sort may be what you are after?

Wrong light. A full power p7 is giving ~7 watts of heat. That wouldn't work, especially when you consider the heat rise from running a single die at ~700ma.

Well, the first problem will be fitting the LED in the reflector. For now, if you want a floody light,a diffuser might work better. Wait for Cree to come out with their quad die LED. I think it is the same dimensions as the current XR-E so it would be easier to upgrade.

My P7 and heatsink are wider than a P3D.
