Has the heatsink problem been solved with the MagLED C & D's?

Perhaps you haven't had a chance to try them? Every 3 cell module I've picked up has been better than the 2 and 4 Cell modules.

Perhaps the 3D cell is "direct drive" ?

Could be, or just a more efficient circuit. I think there should be some postings around here from some techno-types who have already explored this. The threads should be in this forum.

The answer is "no".

Qualifier, not on the factory level -- you have to go custom to solve that problem (think $$$ and time)

Here is a link to the thread that shows what I did with my 3C Mag. The same could be done with the D cell also.
