Yes, several times when I lived downtown in a mid-sized town in Pennsyltucky. I filed police reports, but nothing ever came of them.

Junkies, man. They only care about the next fix, and they'll happily take a package right off your porch to do it.

wtf fedex i have a package that needs to be frozen i live in georgia it was coming from florida its now in indianna what kind of logistics is this?

The postman is generally good with putting the package in a discrete location when im not home & with DHL you can choose a place for your mail to be placed in case you aren't there. Either that or they'll just leave a note telling you they couldn't deliver it & that they'll try again tomorrow or that you have to pick it up from the post office.

Yeah, I live in an urban area too close to main travel routes and local commerce. My delivery of REI hiking boots notified me by email and when I got home 3 hours later, an empty box was on the walk. We have an online police report for minor crimes and major retailers will just replace the theft with a police report number.

I'm told the street people see a delivery truck and see right away there's a package for the taking. I now have everything sent to the office unless I know I'll be home. Sometimes, I'm not sure which shipper a vendor will use. The US postal service tends to deliver small stuff, and they seem to park someplace and walk around with mail and deliveries.

I also see empty, opened boxes hidden behind parked cars, with packing material tossed around; I imagine they are thefts, opened.

One of the few advantages of apartment living. Our co-op building has a vestibule area that anyone can enter. But entering the lobby requires an electronic fob, or getting buzzed in. Fed-Ex, UPS, DHL get buzzed in. Mail lady has one of those electronic fobs. And thankfully, even though some are rude, none of my neighbors are thieves. Not a single package lost in all the years I've lived here.

No. I buy stuff from the store……well that and all of the police living in the area. It's like living at Precinct 10.
Another good option, if the store is out of stock, is to buy the item online; but have it shipped to the store itself to be picked up by you. Great way to avoid porch thieves.
