Hi everyone,

I have been lurking here for a little while and i have to say thank you for all of the knowledge you have imparted. The best light I own (due to flashlightreviews.com) is a Heliotek HTE-1 Rev 2. I bought it because I wanted a light I could depend on in any situation. Although I really like it (it makes a great worklight for my car, especially with the tripod), it seems technology has passed the Heliotek by. Is this light still relevant? I see little discussion of it here on the forums.

The others are a minimag (3 led upgrade from Target) and a Mag 3-D with a Mag 3 watt led upgrade. I have a Dewalt DW908 worklight too. Oh yeah, I have an Inova Microlight on my keychain as my EDC, but I find it lacking in brightness for traversing dark areas. I would like to upgrade to a AAA EDC light preferably with a cree or P4.

The Fenix L0D-CE seems like the choice - any other recommendations? I'd also like to get one for my dad (Birthday coming soon) as he has alot of trouble seeing at night and due to a bad leg is always afraid of falling when he can't see. I want something small that can really flood an area for him.

Thanks for everything, really. Who knew there was so much going on in the world of flashlights?

I would say that the Heliotek is FAR from irrelevent. Just cause there is new technology out there and nobody talks about the Heliotek, it doesnt make it a worse light than it was before, it still does the job it's intended for.
The reason nobody talks about it is probably cause it falls in a quite unusual category. The light that most people talks about here are EDC:able, small, bright lights. Or large STUPIDLY bright lights. Since the heliotek isnt a tiny light, or SUPER bright (but still bright enough for it's intended use) but rather a light intended for extreme conditions, it's not that talked about.

When it comes to AAA crees, you cant go wrong with the Fenix L0D CE. Other options are Liteflux LF2(more customable and complicated UI if you like that) and Miller Mods Arc AAA cree mod(should be a bit more expencive than the others though).
