Hello everyone, I am glad to have found this place. I am torn between buying the Fenix T1 or the TK10. I read up a bit on both of them and I was wondering which one has the tightest beam pattern. I am really looking for distance...no so much width. Based on the fact that the TK10 says something about being the "blend of flood and spot" leads me to believe that the T1 might have a tighter beam. Also I am open to suggestions if someone could recommend something else that throws 200+ lumens and has a laser tight beam for around the one hundred dollar mark.

Since this is my first post, perhaps someone could tell me why I see the word "Mag" in threads sometimes spelled M*g ?

Also, I cant post in the marketplace yet, so if someone could post in this thread for me http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=180221 that I would like the LED maglight. I sent a PM....but just in case it doesnt go through.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

T1 and TK10 should have the identical beam. The TK11 might be a bit more narrow, but if you want tight throw, look at Dereelight and Tiablo

Yes, like everyone else said, The T1 and Tk10 have the same beam pattern. The TK10 can be called the successor to the T1.

If you want to be 100% sure, contact a seller like Fenix Store and they will tell you.

:welcome:

The T1 got more spot than the TK10.
If you want the clip, go with the T1, the TK10 clip is useless.

The upcoming TK11 with the smooth reflector will out throw the T1 and TK10 with textured reflectors. For more throw than the TK11 you could look into the Dereelight DBS V2, Tiablo A8/A9, Edgetac Raidfire Spear, or Lumapower MRV.

Fenix does not have a great thrower. The T1 with the smooth reflector will out throw the TK10 but not that significantly.
If you want a narrow beam go with another manufacturer. The Tiablo A9 is a good thrower and is on sale at DX right now.

The T1 with the smooth reflector is on sale now at Fenix store so .....
Otherwise just get the new TK11 as it's smooth and can take 18650's as well.

Sadly, my TK10 rides in my concealed carry bag as a backup while my T1 is my EDC light.

The TK10 is a nice light, but "where do you carry it?" is the million dollar question. If you don't want that nylon case they include (which has a noisy velcro closure and isn't very tactically useful), you're just about SOL as the clip does a fine job of balancing the mass of the light between your pocket and outside your pocket. If you do anything, the light will fall head-first out of your pocket and soon dissociate itself from you.

So, I ditched the clip and applied the hypodermic accessory. Okay... Only now it won't fit tail down in anything I own and is even more ill-fitting in the carry pouch (which I still refuse to wear). So, for the few days I carried that light, it just flops around in the cargo pocket of my 5.11s.

FENIX would be doing themselves a HUGE favor by making the bezel the same dimensions as the Sure Fire 6P so we could use those carriers for the (vastly) superior handling Fenix light.

Oh well, I think the NiteCore Infinity size lights are going to replace CR123 lights for personal defense in the next couple of years anyway. Why carry a big heavy 6P-platform when you can carry the mini-light. If Nitecore had some sort of decent clip on their light I'd be carrying it on a daily basis instead of the T1 light.

If you have even the slightest inkling that you might think you would want to use rechargeable cells in this light, you'd be best served to get it out of the way ahead of the time and wait for the TK11, or pick another 18650 powered light. Otherwise you'll start the 10,000th thread on what the best RCR123s are to use in your [insert fenix light that does not accept 18mm cells here] here in a few weeks, and I'll have to tell you, unfortunately, that all RCR123s are semi-lousy alternatives to CR123s, and that you should buy a 18650 powered light. Fenix makes a really nice flashlight, but they get way over-suggested here and then a lot of people are running around with less than ideal rechargeable solutions in lights that are optimized for primaries after the fact.

If this doesn't apply to your needs/situation, and primaries are fine with you, ignore this entire post.

I used the clip from the Gerber infinity ultra, and glow tape.:grin2:
