Hello all, this is my first post here.

I've been looking to purchase an 18650 Li-ion for my new flashlight, but I can't decide which one to get. I've narrowed my choices down to between a blue and grey TrustFire.

My main concern between these two batteries is the capacity. I plan on discharging the battery at around 400-500 mA and would like to purchase the battery that holds the highest voltage at these currents. I've done some searching on this forum and found plenty of capacity tests for the blue TrustFire. But I couldn't find much testing regarding the grey ones. I would prefer to get the grey ones since they have short-circuit protection, but I would rather not compromise battery life. Does anyone have experience using the grey trustfires? Or perhaps someone could point me to a thread with more information?

Thanks in advance,

i recommend sku.20392.

good at high rates, and very uniform between them. i got a gazzilion of them, to make battery packs for video light. at 500mah the "3000mah" ultrafire will give a more runtime i believe.

besides that, i prefer the grey one. but its just a preference, not based on testing.

I have been testing some 18650 batteries and the 2400/2500/2600mAh batteries I have measured (3 different brands) does not live up to the marking, they mare more like 2100 to 2200 mAh.
The best I have tested is AW2600, number two is Xtar2200. The blue Trustfire 2500 has about 2150 mAh

Has anybody written a Firefox plug-in which will take the DX sku number and spit out its picture? OK, I am only joking but some people expect others to memorize DX sku numbers :)

Oh, battery recommendation? Trustfire Black&Red is a good one.

Thanks for the replies, but I'm mainly looking for more information regarding the grey TrustFires (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5776). I have found plenty of information regarding the blue and black trustfires , and they both perform pretty close to their 2500mAh rating. But I can't seem to find much testing data for the grey ones.

Not quite, but there is a DX add-in for the Google Toolbar.

Highlight the sku, press the DX button and voila....product displayed on the screen.

I have 16x of the unprotected gray Trustfire cells (DX 19770) which are rated at 2500mAH. At 1A discharge current, they test out to 2200-2300mAH. Not sure if they are the same as 5776.

I have a bunch of the protected 2500mAh, blue TrustFire cells. I'll say one thing about them, they aren't 67mm long as DX used to specify. They are actually 69.0mm, which is really too long for anything I have, with out modification of the light. They do seem to work well though. I haven't run any capacity tests, but they seem to be in the ballpark of 2500mAh.

OK, thanks for the info everyone. After doing a little more research, I'm leaning towards getting the grey Trustfire 18650s. However, I'm still not entirely decided yet. If anyone else has information (discharge graphs, personal experience, run-times, ect.) regarding the grey Trustfires, I would greatly appreciate it.

Why so hung up on the grey's? I was in your same shoes and after many hours of reading, I decided on the black Trustfires. Newest model with lowest resistance.

me too, ive got the blue and blacks, and will continue to buy the blacks from now on
