Hi All,

Love the forum... Sooooooo much info avaliable its just crazy, I never knew flashlights could be so complex.

I am looking for some recomendations for a new light with the following specs.

1. Good runtime on AA, C, or D's
2. Incandecent bub
3. No fancy UI. I just want on/off and that on where you can just hold the button down a bit.
4. Durable
5. Not bigger than my Maglite 3D

The light will mostly be used for walking about my property at night and going from the campfire to the lake etc. Currently Im using a Maglite 3D and I do like it however I would like something thats a bit more bright.

Thanks

How bright are you looking for?

Are you willing to use rechargeable cells?

You could just buy some parts and put a more powerful bulb in your current Maglite. One of the most popular for the 3D you're using is the Mag85 modification, but that's crazy bright.

You could also see if you could find a used Magcharger. They tend to sell for $40-60, and are a very nice workhorse of a light.

+1 for the MagCharger! These are magnificent lights still...
Way brighter than a stock 3D, and nearly the same size. The rechargeability is a great plus! And.... the battery will provide you with GOOD light till the end. Alkalines you may be using at the moment in your 3D, are bright in the first hour of use, then the light-output goes down rapidly and steadily, making the light fairly unusable quite fast.
