on kenshiro's superlight shootout the spotlights hold their own against those HID monsters it seems.
and when I look at the price ... oh boy ... who would wnat something as cheap as a spotlight here anyway? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Guys

Let's talk lights; the other remarks we can do without...

HIDs are in a class of their own in comparison to "most" of the spotlights. On the hand, once you have ever seen KENSHIRO'S Ken4 (250 watt halogen incandescant), one could easily arrive at cmacclel's conclusion, "Kind of makes the HID look like a double AA Maglight huh??"

Things are relative... the yellow banana vector as I call it, easily makes a Surefire M6 "look like a double AA Maglight "... different tools for different appplications. Apples and oranges, a $18 spotlight versus a $250 tactical flashlight.

OK,

I'll bite. I see a beam shot of a 50W HID. Very impressive. What HID light is this? Do you have pictures and specs on the light?

Thanks,
Don

If you look at my other post on Home made HID Spotlight it gives you all the information and pictures.

Jeff, which Vector light are you referring to? Sounds like I need one.

Which makes me wonder why we don't also consider the run times and efficiency as being the greates factor at a given output level.

It has to be reliable, 15 minutes and it's dead is rough to handle.

With a $60 Battery pack which includes charger will operate my light for over 2.5 hours at 35 watts and just under 2 hours at 50 watts. The pack is a belt pack and is very comfortable to wear. The 250 watt Kenshiro light is great but it really not even usable.
