I think the point is that our own eyes see CCT differently. It doesn't matter which manufacturer offered what because it comes down to our personal tastes.

I was giving my own opinion since the OP asked for suggestions. It would be nice to give our own experiences to give the OP a better perspective of what to expect rather than none? It'll give him a list of options to look up and carefully select which one he or she likes. I don't think anyone is trying to endorse any manufacturer here besides their own personal taste relating to the subject of this post.

A whole list of Nichia 219 user experience quotes is irrelevant to an overtly High CRI topic thread? Even without my post the 219 will still be dominating the discussion. So somehow my post is a rant.

No one is arguing that the 219 is a great LED, you seem incapable of seeing any other members viewpoint unless it agrees 100% with your own. = Rant.

There's no commercial priority in what emitter you or I choose to prefer - it's just that you've been banging on about the "Nichia ruling and Cree drooling" repeatedly in multiple threads and appearing to take little interest in anyone else's opinion. Cheapest way to try a nichia 219 is Sbflashlight's L10. It's a 1 AA twisty keychain and it can be bought with the 219.
Next would be the new Xeno eo3 from EDCPlus. Look in dealers corner of cpfmp for more info.

At some point within the flashlight addiction you will search out the tint that's right for you. My only advice is try em all in an affordable and comparible way ;)

To the OP, assuming you're after the generic P60 brass pill/reflector design, a 500+ OTF drop-in will sag in performance rather quickly if the drop-in is not thermally potted and copper taped to transfer heat to the body. For that sole reason, I resorted to making my own custom slug to fit tightly inside a SF 6P. It's the cheapest but also the most deserving route.

Like several other members mentioned here, the EDC+ triple drop-in also makes a high CRI that is machined from a solid piece of copper. It's the lowest-priced copper module I've seen that is $69 and electroplated in silver to aid in thermal conductivity.

I have a L10 on the way but thanks for the heads up on the Xeno E03 with Nichia 219. I bought a XP-G Xeno and some 1mm stars to mod but I haven't yet. Might save myself the trouble.

Thanks for all the responses. The purpose for the drop in is simply to have a good outdoor light. I'm not interested in a throwers because I usually carry two lights, one for walking the woods with a floody beam and one to reach out and see what those glowing eyes belong to. I think I will stick to the cool whites and neutrals. So is 500 out the front possible with the solarforce? I do wrap my drop ins with aluminium foil to get rid of a little heat. Just want the best bang for my rare bucks with something that's not a custom setup.

You'll want to have the drop-in thermally potted. Also, copper or aluminum tape/foil will finish up the transfer. Some folks make it fit super tight.
