Has anyone on this forum use the A2 in bad weather(rain, fog, etc.) on high mode? I wonder how much it can get through.

i have used it though rian, snow, fog, it it works pretty well. it will still illuminate as far as you can see, and no real throw is lost, of course with night vision you can see right though fog.

:) Thank you for the info. I'm leaning towards getting the A2 since I like the dual output mode. I have the mode on my other flashlight a Streamlight 3C-XP I use in the home for power outages, etc.

then you should find the A2 to be whiter and more long lasting. I never owned an 3C-XP but i am certain it does not have a regulator:grin2:

Eh, that might be a bit of a stretch. Its incan beam doesn't penetrate fog *that much* better than any other white light, which is not that well.

Fog wipes out all white lights more or less equally with respect to incan or LED. The biggest difference in aerosol penetration seems to be beam shape -- you want a tight spot with minimum spill for best penetration. Pretty much anything that can be called "white light" suffers comparably (and severely) in fog.

I have two reasonably bright amber LED flashlights. They do pretty well compared to their white light counterparts, especially the 3rd Shift modded Mag that can be adjusted to a tight spot. There is something about amber that works well in fog.

meh, fog's okay...since your dealing with water droplets some act as reflectors some as refracters depends on how the light hits them....but they are transparent so from the naked eye nothing is being "lost"

its smoke that really kills throw:ohgeez:heavy smoke will probably make an HID look like a minimag
