I'm surprised how "ringy" the XP-G is.

I put a DX SMO reflector on the DX single mode XP-G "R5" drop-in and it didn't show rings like that.

Nice job, what driver did u use?

I am using AMC7135's

I'm surprised how "ringy" the XP-G is.

I put a DX SMO reflector on the DX single mode XP-G "R5" drop-in and it didn't show rings like that.

I put some plastic spacer between the Led and Reflector (~1.5mm) to allign LED a little back. And it has some centering problem, maybe 0.5mm but effects the beam profile.

Eprom,

Nice work. I just finished a Q3 5A drop-in using one of Shining Beam's single mode drivers and a very similar DX SMO reflector. Your results look very similar to mine.

As to the XP-G, I tried a SMO reflector [XR-E type] and it had LOTS of ring artifacts. Still waiting for a XP-G specific reflector....

I will say though, I love the Q3 tint, it will be great when Cree releases a warm-neutral tint XP-G...
