How do I swap the emitter on a Gerber LX3.0?

A friend has a Gerber LX3.0, and I offered to try to Seoul it. The head is glued on something fierce, though, as I couldn't open it with locking pliers and a strap wrench.

Any ideas?

Heat and torque is the way all the other lights are done.

How much heat is usually used? I don't want to damage the light.
