Details of flashlight storage solutions can be found in threads in the Flashlight Collectors forum.

As for how SureFire has influenced or changed my life or work. That's a long story but to sum it up: "for the better"

I am an avid hiker and it gets dark so early in the winter where I live that I would only hike in the summer months.

Then I bought a surefire flashlight.

I got the idea to go out in the woods in the middle of the night for my hiking fix, and now I'm hooked.

I bought more SureFire flashlights and I carry 3 of them on my hikes that last up to 2 hours. I carry the 6P, the M2, and a modified light using a LEEF body.

SureFire has brought year round hiking into my life. I wouldn't trust any other flashlights where I go hiking.

Thank You SureFire! :twothumbs

Size15's

Please post your story! I would love to hear it!

How to did it change my life at work? (law enforcement)

Hard to say, my 6P led doesn't do anything that a cheap $10 "police" tactical can't do. However, it does everything better, much more durable, brighter light, longer life battery life, ect.

So has it really "changed" anything? No, but it has made my life easier and I have good piece of mind knowing that if I drop the thing, it won't break.

Size15's, i think you can do (post) it ^^ and also your SF experience is "colorful"~

Actually, i 'd like to research about the SF culture.

for the "change" & "influence" meaning...
um.. I'm a SF user too, and think SF's "tailcap" function really changed my point of view in the flashlight field, in fact, that's special design and practical.
now many other brands have "tailcap" element in thier product. However, i think "tailcap" changed my habit of usage of flashlight.

that's just only my opinion, I really would like to hear yours.

hi, thank your opinion,
would you know will mag break if drop ?

My (many) SureFires have very different ways of life. Many of them form my "P" series collection, and just sit on a shelf as eye candy. Other, such as my EDCs (A2, 6PL) get used daily, and you would certainly know it by looking at them. Plenty of dents, scratches, scrapes and such - all adding character to the light.

How have my SureFires changed my life? Not in any drastic kind of way. Just made things easier. Probably the biggest change they have caused is in the way I view products, not just lights. I am much more appreciative of good design, reliability and good construction. SureFire has generally raised my expectations of what a product should be able to deliver.

Wait. Scratch all that. Biggest change? I have far less money now

Tempest

You mean the biggest change is the lack of spare change :)

Perhaps the larger benefits are the ones we don't immediately recognize.
Try doing without them for a week and then you'll understand.

I don't 100% understand your question. However, I think you are asking if I trust mags to run if I drop them.

My response...Yes, they are great lights. I am fairly confident that I can abuse one and it will still work. My main issue with mag is brightness.

I suppose my life has been influenced by SF in the fact that I never used to EDC a light, and now I always carry a SF light when I have a pocket available (usually my C2/KL3/SW02).

Previously, my idea of light was 'bigger is better', hence the MAG 6C I used to have in my car.

I don't only own or use SF, I have a few Pelican lights, and these get used in roles 'appropriate' to their design and construction, namely my 3610PL Little Ed, which I use for my part time EMT duties - it clips to a jacket whilst providing forwards light, it runs for over 30 hours on 4AA cells, and the bezel glows after light, for location purposes. Oh, and it's more water resistant than I'm ever likely to need.

I haven't bought any SF lights for a while now, and I have more than I actually need, anyway, but I'm glad I discovered the advantages of SF all those years ago, with my old 'Laser Products' 9P. which is still going strong.

I have about a dozen Surefires. They have enhanced the enjoyment of my outdoor activities. But the biggest change is now I usually have a E2e or 9P strapped to my belt when out and about at night. So Surefire has made me a bigger Geek than I already am.

Perhaps you should ask the broader question:

How have Flashlights changed your life ?

Or, is this specifically a Marketing Analysis for Surefire ?

Regardless, welcome to CandlePowerForums !

:welcome:

You've got questions. We've got answers. :)

hi Burgess,
I would like to understand SF users how their SF life are.
and this is a part of an essay for my Cultural Studies homework.

Marketing Analysis <-- as I'm a product design student and hate commercial things sometimes >.<. but I enjoy to explorer SFers' experiences, usages, stories, modifications, etc. thank your helps and lifes!

I know my questions and your answers are not only in this thread and there are many many useful & typical threads in CPF, I'll swim there as more as possible.

I won't ask the Broader, my tutor thought so, cos the essay is talking about SF users and life, not only the products, I hope i can find the interactions between product and user in the society.

I'm a SF collector for 9 years. SF made me to appreciate flashlight. before, I don't think flashlight which can be a hi-tech and quality things (even a valuable things )

btw, I just read size15s' pub old story, very exciting!

wow, great question, good luck with your essay! If I had this kind of assignment at school I would have enjoyed it a lot more :)

Working in security prompted me to research different types of tools or 'kit' as the department didnt always issue what we wanted or needed. A short foot-pursuit after a theft suspect began my flashlight obsession.

Now working as a Federal Peace Officer I'm just happy to get paid to show up at work where I get to USE my beloved SF lights :) SF flashlights and flashlights in general are one of my hobbies that I enjoy. I suspect like most people on CPF in general, just holding any of my FL's (SF or not) gives me such satisfaction that is sometimes difficult to explain to non-flashaholics.

Even if I had a bad day at work, etc... just goign home and bringing out the ol' collection brings a smile back to my face. Pathetic huh? :D

In short, SF lights have affected my life by giving me something to admire and to covet and to collect and to share with others. THey also have allowed me to do my job better and to allow me to come home at the end of the shift, no lie.

It's late, so I apologize if my reply is a bit scatter-brained. :) But I just wanted to chime in with my humble 2-cents...

You also ask how we modify our lights? As you may have seen - many different ways!

SureFire makes lights that are so versitile that you can pretty much make your own unique light ... one that nobody else has. That is part of the fun of SureFire.

It isn't the greatest picture, but you can see my SureFire modifications:

The one on the left is the M2 with an extender. The next one is a LEEF body with a stainless steel head and Z49 tailcap (the only part on that light that is SureFire is the tailcap - but I still call it a SureFire!) - Next is the 6P and last is the E1L.

Most of us use rechargable batteries in our SureFire lights. This is not what SureFire recommends, but we do it anyway! My first 3 lights here have AW rechargeable batteries and Lumens factory bulbs. They are brighter than stock, and cost less to run. Also friendlier to the enviornment because we aren't throwing away batteries all of the time. The E1L is totally stock, but will run for 10 hours on one (surefire) battery.

cenz: do You own a SureFire light?

also: what does it mean in your sig tag???
"SF isn't for Brightness, it likes iPod more!"
please explain that!

Have fun with your essay! And please post it here when finished!

sig tag, well, this is a personal feeling only.
"SF isn't for Brightness" : I rememder that I got the SF12PM, I suppose it was the most brightness flashlight in the world!! ( except Maxa & UK etc. )
BUT, nowaday I found many many powerful flashlights in the world, you can easy to find so-called M@g85, SF85, BrightSta*HID... so, brightness is not for SF only, there are many choices in the otherworld!

"it likes iPod more!"
although SF is not the brightness, but small, stability and big brand. especially in terms of "big brand", I think it like Apple case :
I think ipod(SF) is not hi-end sound(not brightness), but i like their accessories(the same), minimal style(HAIII/tactical bezel) & trendy(CSI?).

How is your family? alone? ( i'd like to ask : how did your family feel your SF? )

I..I don't know your case whether typical or not. but I think it is realistic, even if had a bad day at school, classmates will be joyful when they looking their gundam collections.

As you said, SF is able to be an emotional issue, not functional only.

anyway, thank your life sharing~
