How low is too low for an XP-G below the reflector? (XP-G modded Ra Clicky)

I know the title is confusing, so I took pics. I modded my Ra Clicky with an XP-G last year, it had a large bright hot spot and perfect flood. I recently got water in the reflector assembly and after carefully drying it, I noticed I scratched the reflector (now I know to use only compressed air:oops:). I sent it in to Henry who swapped the reflector for the cost of parts + $15 shipping. As soon as I took it out of the package, I noticed the reflector looked different. The first reflector seemed to have a much more parabolic shape, while this one is more straight-walled. The first one was also a heavy orange peel while this one is exceptionally light. Anyway, the beam now has a much tighter hotspot (I like this) but now has rings (I don't like this). The emitter also sits below the opening in the reflector a bit. It's hard to say, but I'd say the reflector starts at about 2/3 the way up the globe on the XP-G.

The light appears dimmer even though the hot spot is tighter, even though a tighter hot spot is the most noticeable way to sense brightness increases.

Any input on the depth of the seating on the XP-G. Are there different types of HDS reflectors or did he recently change his geometry or orange peel density?
