how to get the most from my nitecore d10? Batteries?

I am running my nitecore d10 on energizer 2500mah nimh batteries, they are rechargables. I have read on this forum that you will get brighter light running AW's P14500 , and longer runtimes. Is this true and why is that? I would order them if it made a noticable difference.

The aw's are 12.00 bucks per battery,, ouch . should i spend the money or am i good with what i have.:mecry:

looks like this light is definetely brighter with the 14500 aw's. and better runtime also. but mostly what i was after was brighter, looking like i might need to spend the money.
