I have seen a \"T\" flux bin code 1W luxeon

"T" bin code is 67.2 to 87.4 lumens. Now that I have your attention, I should add that it is a red-orange one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The purpose of this post is to ask the question: What are the highest bin codes for flux that you have seen in the red, red-orange, or amber colors?

now that you have my attention indeed...

that was incredably cruel...i'm not going to answer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon6.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif

actually, i mainly buy emitters, so the bins are unknown /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

victim found. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif
that must be an incredible orange sun!
the highest I knew of until now was the one used in my Black Widow McLux, a red HD that puts out about 40-45lm when driven at spec. and this is bright.

P.S.: set up the trap again ... HAR HAR HAR /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Doug..

That's not very sportsman-like /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Reeling CPF'ers into a thread with "T-bin 1W" is like shooting fish in a barrell /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[back on topic]
Has anyone compared how much incandescent light, filtered to red/red-orange it takes to equal the light from a 1W R/R-O luxeon? I've always wondered about this.

I have a RED/OR 1w also, don't know what Bin-code it is, but I am wondering when they are going to add brightness warning stickers on the packages with the ESD stickers

Whoo hoo, this is as much fun as fishing, and without the mess of cleaning them afterwards.

Pow, another fish. Where did you see it and are they for sale?

Actually, I haven't actually seen these. I have an email from someone offering some for sale. He says he has a total of eleven. Specifically, they are bin T2HR. S&H is a bit excessive but I am tempted. That was the stimulus for this thread; I am trying to find out if these are the best available. I really don't have much use for colored luxeons but I might get one or two and do something silly like assemble a red-orange ARC grey kit or experiment with mixing red-orange with white to produce warm-white. The later experiment has been tried before and results are generally lacking. I might try it again with the use of light diffusing films but this still won't solve the problem of the colored fringes in shadows, a phenomenon not unfamiliar to those who came of age in the 60's.

Doug

Would you be willing to grab one, and trade it for 2 White Q2J's? (Though, I have a sneaking suspicion that you probably don't need 2 more white luxeons)

That would be an overly generous trade on your part. That would be OK with me but if I decide to get one, I could just order an extra and split the $6.95 S&H with you. Be aware that these are HD Star configuration so if you want just emitters you will need to remove them from the Star board. PM me.

BTW, how do we get people to *stop* changing the subject line of this thread?

Ooouuwww. Mii mouf urts.
(Someone please take the hook out)!....

And the title change happens when you use quick reply.

Reeled in another you twit!! Isn't there a limit? I guess with catch and release, it's OK. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I haven't a clue on what a high red or orange bin is but if I did know or better yet had some, boy would you pay! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just stopping by to check the trotline /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Ahhh..., trotline fishing, a popular technique here in the South. While I don't know for sure, it always seemed like something that would be illegal in some jurisdictions. It seems like the type of thing that would be known to the State of California to cause unnecessary psychological distress to the fish.

Re: I have seen a

IMHO the title is changed because the UBB code stops the line when it reaches a " in the phrase ... just like now.

and changing back ... to be cruel.

I have seen a \'\'T\'\' flux bin code 1W luxeon

Hmmm..., interesting. I'll try and trick it by replacing the " with two ' in a row.

The trick does work. Anytime you need to put a " in the title, use two ' marks in its place, and the line won't get truncated by UBB in future replies.

Re: I have seen a \'\'T\'\' flux bin code 1W luxeon

Well judging by the lack of info, it looks like most folks here are like me in the regard that there isn't a lot of interest in the red/red-orange/amber end of the spectrum. I am mostly a white LED guy myself. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered a couple. It was hard to resist the idea of a T flux code 1W luxeon. If nothing else, I can build one into a ARC grey kit, or similar, and briefly have a 100 lm/W flashlight. The very steep efficiency vs temperature curve of these should give the result that a light cooled to freezer temperatures should be able to deliver well over 100 lm/W at least for the first few seconds before it warms up.
