For some strange reason, I prefer simple looking lights. I do love features and modes and multiple output levels. I just don't like spacey looking things.

I recently posted about my new Nitecore D10, which I really like. The EX-10 may end up on its way pretty quickly since its on sale right now. Both lights have simplicity of looks in common. I really didn't even look at the other Nitecore lights due to their lack of simplicity. Now I am thinking about the other models, but they do not catch my eye like the simple knurled versions.

I may never buy a O light. Too jumbled and spacey. To much going on to be simple and elegant. More like a spacey gun toy than a working mans tool.

Maybe this is why so many of us seem to really love the RA clicky in its various incarnations? It is really simple with very good performance and great finish.

My favorite lights are the single cell lights. Spacey is not how I would describe any of them.

From does follow function for me. Just a nice simple look is not enough. I haven't bought a single mode light and will not be doing so for the near future. The nitecore extreme has my attention, but I haven't decided yet. Cool features with only a little bit of toyish look to it.

ETA: I looked at the Muyshondt for a while, but never realized how much I would like it. Very simple and great performance in a tiny package.

Nice selection of lights. I like simple and elegant too. The Quark is a good example of that for me.

I like simple lights that don't roll around off a table when I place them down. So a belt clip, anti-roll bezel features, or a tailcap rim to tail stand is my general preference. I don't mind a mild strike bezel edge too, so long as it does not grossly obstruct light output.

Anti roll features (or a lack there-of) is one of my deal breakers. I had a 4D mag roll off the kitchen table onto my foot once !!! OUCH!!!

Just the other night I was cleaning / oiling my hair trimmer. I was digging around under the bathroom sink for my can of liquid wrench with my brand new eagletac P100C2. I placed the light on the counter top and it started to ROLL!!! Not wanting to drop test it on the tile floor, I gritted my teeth and used my foot to break its fall:crazy::banghead::hairpull:. I now have a big bruise on my big toe and a happy healthy light to show for it.

Good point. I ordered a pocket clip for the D10. Forgot to order the clip for the EX10. No big deal since the shipping is free.

I voted "elegant and simple", though I don't think that description has to mean shapeless like the D10 (no offense to the D10 - I actually really like its looks). I guess the key is more the "elegant" than the "simple". But definitely as long as it's not way out there with things sticking out all over the place, etc. Basically so long as the looks are based on function, and where aesthetic stylings aren't taken overboard (not to say they can't be there at all, though), I'll likely appreciate the light.

So doesn anyone actually have a buck rogers space gun light with fricken lazers? I sometimes wish I bought this baby when it was still out.

Yea. That is the kind of stuff I am talking about. The entire O light line seems dedicated to buck rogers retro revival. I am sure they work just great. I just don't much care for the toy like appearance.

The lazer reference was in homage to Doctor evil and the sharks with friken lazer beams on their heads. :D

I have seen many of the really cheap lights at the auto store with the lazer in the center.

Yeps, keep em simple and straight please. If it falls in the mud, i want to clean my light with a few swipes, not have to extensively clean it because of all the nooks, notches and weird thingies (Surefire, i'm looking at you!).
Small Fenix lights are nice, quarks too just the clicky bit might collect crap ;) Oh, and many more ofcourse, but i need more lights to judge them :p

The following was a one-off (IIRC) in stainless from someone in China that was posted on CPF a few months ago. I liked it quite a bit & saved the pic:

Where do angleheads and other utilitarian lights fit into these categories? Streamlight Sidewinder for example isn't exactly elegant and simple, has nothing sharp sticking out and no frickin' lazers. I love the look of the Arc AAA, Peak's AAA's with lugs and the CMG Infinity. No shiny titanium or SS, just black HA-III.
