If you dont have a Surefire Kroma this Video will make you want it!! (Take 2)

Re: If you dont have a Surefire Kroma this Video will make you want it!!

Arrgh, now I have to watch all the Surefire commercials on there! Anyone else feeling the urge to buy a flashlight? Hehehe

Re: If you dont have a Surefire Kroma this Video will make you want it!!

I just got a new LED drop in for an old Surefire I had. I decided on getting all my lights out, clean them up, see what I need for batteries and bulbs.

The Kroma is one of my favorites. I was able to get a milspec years ago.

My testosterone level has just shot up! I'm off to kick in a few doors...

saw the kroma for about 2 seconds in the video, but damn that video was cool.

Re: If you dont have a Surefire Kroma this Video will make you want it!!

The video did nothing for me, but I'd still like to have a Kroma! :D

I can't say I have an urge to bash in doors or anything, but the machining shots made me drool a bit! :hitit:

There was a mint Kroma that went unsold for $140 on the marketplace a couple weeks ago:thinking:... CPF is definitely a "brighter is better" crowd!!

Kramer that was me selling it and Im the one who posted this thread LOL.:twothumbs

The Kroma is bright I would say 80 lumens out the front. But it is an engineering marvel because of the complexity of the design. Its is definitely the ultimate Hunters light.

You dont need a Milspec version when your using gen 3 PVS-7's or 14's.Im sure you have other NVG IR Illumination!!

Actually I traded my NV Monocular for an M6!!! LOL! But my Camcorder has digital NV built in, so I still have a use for it. I just want a mil-spec version for the NV Green!

Re: If you dont have a Surefire Kroma this Video will make you want it!!

Not always, just look on the McGizmo fora to see that. I do see your point, especially when some people start doing math like "why would I want to buy a light that's only 100 lumens for $120 when I can buy a 200 lumen light for half that price from another company?" and I could cite at least three examples where I'd rather go for the former and not the latter due to design differences and functionality. Maybe that ad never reached the right people?

As far as the anti PK comments, putting him in the ad was like putting Michael Jordan in an ad for Nike, except for the fact that Jordan wouldn't know the first thing about shoe design: Paul Kim is a superstar in the flashlight world. If you didn't recognize him by name, he wasn't put in there for you, plain and simple. There's no rationalizing it and if his presence in the ad deters you from going with a SF light, then you'd be better off spending your $$$ on a cheaper American knock-off . . . good luck finding those, though, especially if you want a more American flashlight company than Surefire!

I use to be that way in regards to I can spend 120 on a 100 lumen Surefire or 120 on a 200 lumen other brand light. I use to swear up and down about how over priced Surefires were. Now after having most of the Best foreign made lights in the past year. I have came to the conclusion that they are not even in the same category as Surefire. As you can see in my sig line what I own now.In my experiences the differences are night and day.

Why I Prefer Surefire???

1.Excellent regulation runtime
2.Best Alloy materials used
3. Anodizing is better then any foreign HA-III Ive seen
4. Fit and Finish is excellent (Threads are Perfect)
5.Optics are Awesome on SF
6.Heat sinking is superb
7.Glass lens is coated and perfect
8.They R&D every light for precision and the components
9.Beam Patterns are Awesome
10.No BS Warranty

And on a Worthy note they have a NO Fail twisty tailcap on many models which is a big plus when doing mods to them or putting your life on the line.

nice vid of a SF Kroma birth. I liked the shots of the tube getting cut into the Kroma body. Also nice to see the folks hand assembling stuff. I definitely want to get a surefire right now, just waiting for them to release the lx1.

Pretty cool video. I do like to see things like that.

Does not make me want that £300, 50 lumen light though

Re: If you dont have a Surefire Kroma this Video will make you want it!!

Yes the video is cool but isn't the Kroma in need of a LED upgrade? 50 lumens for 1.5 hour is not

If it had the same output as the newer SF models it would be a really cool flashlight.

Surefire Kroma... yeah sure I'd like one (I've got a soft spot for ALS flashlights) but as the previous poster has eloquently pointed out 50Lm for 1.5h off 2 CR123a doesn't sound too efficient, indeed time for a technology overhaul! :D

That "clip" actually made me wonder about gettingmyhands on a lathe most of all

The previous attempt at this thread was wrecked by racist trolling, so we'll try it again here. Posts #1 - #5 are copies of the same posts in the previous thread. Sorry if I've missed out any other worthwhile posts - post here to let me know and I'll copy them across.

Nice vid on the manufacturing but doesn't make me want to get one though. :p Maybe some other model, gassing for the invictus if it ever gets out or the LX2
