I found a nice clean HD45 HA and decided I couldn't live without it.

The previous owner modded an XP-G into it, and he did a great job of focusing the emitter, I have to say. He had a 3 mode 1050ma driver in it. I didn't like having modes, so I swapped in a 4x7135 (1400ma) single level board.

This lights rocks. It is amazing how much light this big reflector gathers. It has a nice hotspot, *and* the spill is tremendous.

lovecpf

Next on my wishlist is a Ti light with a 27mm reflector. :naughty:

Okay, group hug everyone...

:grouphug:

...okay, yeah, that was a little gay...let's just not tell anyone about it. :p

On a different note, it's good to see people are learning what's required to retrofit the newer small-form-factor emitters into older flashlights designed for larger emitters, because that means there will still be upgrade options for these older lights in the years to come.

Just so you know Greg, standard West Virginia dating rules apply to buying/selling/EDCing McGizmos: if you can't keep it in your pants, at least keep it in the family.

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.

Welcome! And lock up your wallet...:ohgeez:

I joined the family November of last year, and since then, well, uh, let's just say that, uh, there have been a few 'additions' to the family...

My $money$? :poof:

Does this make me unhappy? Heck no! Are the acquisitions over? Uh...

:grin2:

I joined in september last year and bought my last McGizmo, an S27 Cx2 just 3 days ago, it'll be the ninth family member...

Be welcome!

Guess I'll hop on board here as well! My first McGizmo just arrived today - thanks, Don! It's a Haiku XP-G in standard finish and it's now my official EDC. I also just bought an XR27-PD from Joseph Milton that will arrive this week. Woohoo! :D

I joined back in June of '09. Two Lunasol 20's which I'd been coveting since January of '09. I knew I'd eventually get one but when Don announced the end of this line, I had to have not one but two! When I have them together I say in my head looking at the first "Never give up . . . " then turn to the other and say "never surrender!"

I know, a little ghey too, but hey, I can't fight my roots as a sci-fi geek! :nana:

When it comes to something like a McGizmo, the price isn't so bad when you consider how well they hold their value. You might lose a little if you have to sell, but you won't get your clock cleaned. It's the same thing with my weapon collection.

I've been admiring these Ti lights Of Don's since I became interested in flashlights. I *thought* about making a custom Ti light of my own, being a machinist. But after considering the time it would take, and the fact that it would not have a pedigree, I decided I was far better off making money in the shop to buy a real McGizmo.

So I just need to decide which one I want. The Haiku looks good, but I'd like something with a slightly larger reflector, like a 27. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I joined in '03. Every generation of Don's lights improves on the last in some respect. Some of the best beams out there!
