Improving Stock Dereelight DBS V3

I recently purchased my first high end flashlight and got it in today and now I am hooked. I purchased it from Jay at flashlightconnection.com and he was awesome to work with.

Here is what I already have for it.
Dereelight DBS V3 S1
Aspherical Head
Pressure switch
Protected 185650 AW battery


I am a huge noob right now so I need some help. I want to improve the light a little more.

I read that if I put in a XR-E R2 pill it would improve it a lot. Is there a different pill that you would recommend?

If the XR-E R2 is good will it work with the DBS S1 because I know there are differences between the other versions.

What else would I need to do for the light to handle the upgraded pill?

What else can I do to improve the light?

And last thing I need is a good website to purchase the pill from.


Also should the ashperical lense be strong enough to handle airsoft bb's being shot at it as I want to use it while airsofting. If not what lense protector could I use to protect it.

1. You can use any pill you want. If its an improvement is up to you to decide. XRE will work with 2xCR123s, the SST50 will get about as much throw but with more total light on 3xCR123s. XPG is pretty meaningless considering the above. You can get the DBS to accept 3xCR123s with an optional 18500 extender. Did I mention that you also use AAs with the Javelin pill and the 18500 extender?
2. Don't know anything about legacy versions.
3. All you need is a 26mm pill otherwise known as a P60 module.
4. Improve? Is that even possible?
5. Nailbender has a thread that sells them in different shapes makes colors and drivers.
6. Only one way to find out for sure...
