I want to run an incan in a Surefire G2 body (with plastic bezel). And I already have a load of cheap eBay sourced 16340 cells.

The lowest powered drop-in I could find is the LF ES-9 with a 0.85A draw.

Will cheap unprotected eBay 16340 cells work well with this low powered bulb?

I expect to use it for at least 30 mins continuously, swap out cells and run for another 30 mins.

Don't mean to be so cheap but I already have a load of cells and don't want to buy more cells till these wear out.

I wouldn't use unprotected lithium cobalt cells in series, especially not cheap ebay ones.

I suggest you pick up a pair of IMR16340 cells from AW, they run 9v incans really nicely.

I was thinking of doing the same thing with a G2 and LF incan. What would be better to use, 2 x 16340 or 1 x 17670? Would you use protected, unprotected or IMR? If I went with the LF 4V, would it be as bright as their 9V?

9v lamps are brighter than the 4V lamps and draw less current. I would go with the two IMR16340's.

The 3.7v lamps are usually most appropriate in single cell lights like a 3P or 3P clone, or an E1e as a pocket rocket. In two cell lights it doesn't make much sense to use a 3.7v lamp.

The high powered 3.7v lamps like the EO-E1R, EO-4 and HO-4 are fairly equivalent in output to the lower powered 9v lamps like ES-9, SR-9 and HO-E2R, but the 3.7v lamps draw much more current.
