Got the X1...the new style...for my uncle and it is AS bright as my X5.
I kid you not. Might be slightly worn down batteries but 6v versus 1.5v is pretty nice.

$20 at target.

I have both X1 and X5 new styles. No comparison -- X5 is lots brighter and whiter than my X1.

Change those X5 batteries. :)

Even if not brighter than X5 (which I don't own either) the "new" X1 is one light I want!

I pretty much killed an older "spot" X1 trying to do what a reflector does!

Yep, there's something wrong with this picture...my old X5 (none upgraded LED's) kills my new X1 (reflector version) on brightness/output.

Are you talking about the newest version with the specs as said at the Shot Show last weekend? Guys the brand new X1 is like a Luxeon 1 or 3 or something. It's going to be way brighter than the old Nichia blue 5mm LED version.

But something is wrong with this picture, I can't imagine Target would have any in stock yet??

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

I believe the new X1 is an L3 at 2W - but that's totally unfirmed right now.

AFAIK Inova hasn't shipped the new X1's yet but order releases are this week - which isn't a minute too soon since they've been OOS for like 6-8 weeks.

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

Wasn't there some vile rumor about the new style X1 having a problem with the glass lens? I heard that the lens was only "glued" in place and that it can fall out if the X1 is dropped or otherwise shocked by impact. Is this true or not? Sorry if I missed a thread or topic where this was already dealt with.

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

wait.. so there's a newer 'new' version of X1's?

link?

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

I like the latest version of the X1 very much. So, I can't wait for this brand new soon to be released version.

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

I doubt it is the 2007 version. Is it even out yet? Last years has the good old bluish dim LED.

I would have liked a red LED version. I also was not fond of the blue nichia (masquerading as white) 5mm LED version, it did not stay on my flashlight shelf for long.

The output was actually incredible though, for a single 5mm LED.

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

I've always been a fan of the X1. The moon beam version, the old 'new' version and if they come out with the 2W version, I'll be all over it!

I've been saying for years now that my dream light would be an X1 with something like either the NFlex or the HDS controller. I'd want at leat one LOW LOW setting, one WOW setting and one somewhere around 10-15-20 lumens for general use. And could run .9 to 4.x with no change in brightness.

Actually, if the NFlex would fit in the X1, that would be my preference.

Other than needing a different circuit, I never understood why Inova never made a red version of either the old or the new X1. Seems like that would be the second offering after white. I know some members like the blue/green/orange etc colors of X1, but seems like red would have been the second highest seller.

I did mod an old style X1 to red and planned on doing the same to the newer X1, but never got around to it.

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

The old style X1 was a curious light with the optics to produce the super-tight spot with almost no side spill. That leads to some useful scenarios where you need to illuminate a certain object without sidespill, and was nice to mod too.
It had some contact problems that may need fixing if it starts flickering and the rubber button was almost unusable making it a twisty.
The new style I think is just another flashlight, the old style had some magic even with its pros and cons.

Re: Inova X1...well worth the money

There is no doubt the old X1 with lens will become a true classic years from now. I'm glad I have two of them, that I bought over 3 years ago! They make great little spotlights, I used them at Halloween to illuminate cardboard bat cut outs in the dark windows. I should get a green one... or two.
