If you're going to have a flashlight as big as the Big Beam 1000, it should do more than an 'ordinary' light. Much more.
So I made the Big Beam 1000 PEPALS (Portable Emergergency Power And Lighting System) modification.

PEPALS is a powerful spotlight and long running LED floodlight.
PEPALS is a power failure light.
PEPALS can run any 12V auto accessory up to 30 amp.
PEPALS can smart charge any NiMH battery pack up to 14.4 V.
PEPALS can light a fire (intentionally!) using the cigarette lighter.
PEPALS can jump start a car!
PEPALS can be charged from any 120V house current or any car lighter socket.
PEPALS LED floodlight has auxilliary batteries in case the main rechargeable battery pack is dead.

Here it is with it's LED flood beam on.

Switching to the spot beam - it is pretty bright.
Beamshot? Sure! Stock Maglight 3D vs Big Beam PEPALS

The spot beam on it is a 35 watt 12 volt halogen bulb, which produces a decent spot and quite a bit of spill - and it can do it for 3 hours!
The dimmable 3 watt led will run for 3 days at full brightness and 3 WEEKS continuously fully dimmed. Impossible you say - not when it is running from a 12X NiMH D cell battery pack (14.4V, 10 amp/hour)!

Decent light, long run times, nothing really special there. But it is also a power failure light. Here it is running on the AC standby charger just waiting for a blackout!.

Here it is opened.
Under the metal plates inside the case there is the battery pack and a smart charger that can be plugged into a car lighter socket. Visible are the binding posts, charger output jack, and 12 volt auto lighter socket.

This gives it connectivity.
The cord on the left has the cigarette lighter plug for car charging.
When that lighter plug is put into the onboard lighter socket, the charger jack becomes active and RC battery packs can be charged in the field from it.

All told this thing weighs about 15 pounds.

This would be a cool project for an emergency back up light with power.

Got any build shots or plans ?

Cool Back-up Lighting System (PEPALS)
Is that pronounced like peoples?
:welcome:

Josie - Very cool mod! I love the features, and versatility.

However, your last pic is way too big, and needs to come down to 800 pixels wide as per forum rules. You can always link to the full size photo.
