Is a Mag rainproof?

I work at a water plant. We've used them with no problems with water shooting out of a hole in an 18" water main, so a little rain should be handled fine.

I've taken mine in a pool and it got all watery inside, so i put silicone grease on the o-rings and now it's water tight and has been for months.

I have used AA Maglight while swimming in the deep end of a swimming pool. Although I have never had water leak, I only turn the head enough to turn the light on.

I also have the quad D cell maglight and I have used it outdoors in Florida during category 3 and 4 hurricanes and in the shower (during power outages), with zero problems.

Three weeks outdoor (continous) during Korea's monsoon season with it clipped outside of my LBV getting rained on, no leaks. And it did rain on my mini-mag straight for three weeks.

It wouldn't hurt any to put extra silicone grease on the o-rings. For C and D Mags, I have put silicone grease around the lip of the rubber switch boot as well.

My minimag has been washed with clothes and it came out just shinier and
in perfect working order. No water inside. Those o-rings do their job well..

I remember as a kid throwing my 2D mag into a pool and diving after it. A couple occasions it got water in it, but take it apart, dry it out, and that same light works to this day. Definately go with some silicone grease so you don't even have to worry about it.

And check out the Princeton Tec Apex headlamp, handsfree and waterproof.

Like everyone else has said, just check the seals and apply more silicone grease. If you really want to go a good job, I guess you should remove any old residue of grease first.

the mini mag is pretty water resistant. the larger c and d mag's main water entry point is the switch boot. keep the o rings lubed and watch the switch cover
