Is the Quark 123x2 modular at all?

Hey guys, just like many of you, I am looking between a PD30 and a Quark 123x2 tactical.

I am looking to replace my TK11R2 with something slightly more form friendly as an edc light for my field job.

I decided on the Quark, but wanted the single 123 AND the 123x2. So I was thinking that I could buy the Quark 123x2 R5 tactical, and purchase the 123 body piece.

I know that the LED's are configured differently and there is a warning to not use two 123's with the head of the single 123 R5 as the voltage is overkill.

But can you use a single 123 with the 123x2 head and basically have both lights in one?

The voltage is to low, but using a single LiIon (16340/RCR123) with the 123x2 head would be possible.
In my review of the lights I did a voltage/light curve and you can see that the 123x2 need 3.6 volt for maximum output.

Green curve is lumen, red is current.

not sure about the regular quark series, but with Quark 123^2 Ti, 17670 wouldn't fit in.

i'd buy a 123^2 light and 123 body.

18650 body plus tactical head/tail would give you a lot of battery options.

The Quark AA, AAx2 and 123 have the same head (buck and boost circuit 0.9-4.2v), but the 123x2 has a different head (buck circuit 3.0-9.0v).

I will go for the Quark 123x2 tactical with 17670 and 123 body with 16340/RCR.

Just speculation, but I wonder if 1xIMR16340 would be able to effectively power up the 2x123 head, since Li-Mn cells hold their voltage better than Li-Co cells, and even have about the same capacity at higher discharge rates (In fact @ 1Amp loads, the IMR has more capacity than the Li-Co. Of course, no over-discharge protection)

Given that the 2x123 draws about 1A of power, you'd probably be able to get about 30mins of runtime from an IMR.

Look at this graph of the IMR16340 discharge- http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showpost.php?p=2214963&postcount=1

on 1A load, it holds > 3.5V for just over 30mins, at which point you'd be doing ~170 lumens according to HKJ's Voltage/Lumen/Current graph.

Anyone want to try? I only have a QuarkAA.

Of course, I don't think this is the most practical setup, I'd personally stick to a 17670 on 1x123 head, but I'm curious!
