I decided to be a little silly this time and do some beamshots comparing some of my more "normal" flashlights to my new 10 Million candlepower Motor Trend spotlight (basically a slightly less powerful Thor spotlight)

I'll be the first to admit, these tests are in *NO* means fair, balanced, or even *useful*, but they sure as heck are *fun*

my standard hallway target, as always, is the red phone at the end of the hall

first, lets set up a couple baseline shots, using two commonly known lights, the MagLED 2 cell (in this case, a 2C), and the Fenix L2T on High

the MagLED;

for the next pics, i metered the scene and locked exposure with the L2T, then switched lights and took the picture, each of these photos will show how much brighter they are than the baseline Fenix.....

the SureFire A2 Aviator;

the MagCharger;

it's definitely getting brighter in here.....

and now... the Motor Trend 10K on Low;

and the Motor Trend 10K on High;

:drool: :eek: :cool:
yep, it overloaded the poor digicam's chip....

here's the last two pics letting the camera meter for the 10K;

pointless? yes
silly? yes
fun? You Betcha!
there's nothing like a car headlight bulb in a big dinnerplate size reflector to put things into perspective.....

Great, I needed those shots, since I just ordered a E2e and an A2. Now I know what to expect compared to the LED's

MagCharger isn't too shabby either... Hmmm...:thinking:
I like beam shot comparisons like this between different lights altogether!

The Fenix is the older 3W Luxeon model, the L2T, not the L2D CE, so it is only on "High", there is no Turbo mode on the L2T

Yeah, there's just something inherently *cool* about that Motor Trend spotlight, yes it's cheap, yes it's unsophisticated, yes it has a short runtime and relies on brute force, but i still love the damn thing, it's a *simple*, pure light, it's the "Muscle Car" of my light collection, the '69 Dodge Charger that relies on pure displacement, for lack of a better term

it's my "Muscle Light", it's brighter than my MagCharger and easily outthrows it for a fraction of the cost, it's just not the easiest thing to EDC, it's not exactly pocket freindly, heck, it's not even backpack-freindly

I may do some of my outside barn pics tomorrow evening, just for kicks

Nice pictures, I like these types of shots much more than just seeing a spot on a white wall.

Was it completely dark before you turned on the flashlights and took the pictures?

Wow EXCELLENT photos, Thanks! They're much better than white wall beamshots, more practical. Gosh, that 10k motor Trend is CRAZY! :D hmm.. but I wouldn't get it because it's a bit big for my needs. ;) I'm quite surprised by the A2 aviator.. didn't expect it to be that bright. However I'm very interesting in purchasing a Surefire E2e, especially when it gets creed in June. :D
