You can't run the MC-E off the smaller driver. The max output voltage is only 12v. If it was 14v, then you would be ok. The bigger driver should work fine.

I don't know of any line voltage drivers that will handle the MC-E at 700mA-1A and is inexpensive. Next option is the 25W Xitanium.

I've ordered it on an individually adressable star, couldn't I wire it 2s2s, or isn't this recommended? That way it'd fall inbetween the 6v-12v output of the smaller driver? The buckpuck pdf shows a Luxeon V wired in that format.

yes you can go the 2S2P way but then youd only be getting 350mA into each die as you would be splitting the current in two.

oh well :( I was hoping that they had mis-titled it and it may have been a constant current driver type as it says output is 700mA 12-21v 18W for the larger one. Assuming the smaller one would have been the same type too.

What typo? Both are constant current drivers. Neither one was mislabled that I saw.

Sorry, bit new to all this. Its says regulated current, not constant current, I thought it may or may not have worked differently to how I thought it did.
I might just order one of each and see what the score is :)

I've found one in the UK, 50 miles from me that should just about handle an Mc-e according to the retailer but it's $40 equivalent with the postage ($15.81)! Thats some sort of price difference :( Rip off Britain is alive and kicking still.

My Kaidomain drivers have turned up. The smaller unit is 9W if anyone was wondering? Not too badly finished IP65 rated, all I need now is my mc-e to arrive and I can see if it works. £5.16 delivered compared to £27.00 delivered from the uk!!!
