Kodak overnight charger

My daugter bought at Walmart some Kodak 2100 mAh precharged batteries with overnight charger. I have all ready read threads on the batteries and they seem to be good. But I haven't read anything about using the overnight charger. Most of the time I will charge them on C9000, (they are in break-in mode right now). She travels a lot and some times I won't be able to charge the batteries, so she will take over night charger with her.

Are there any recommendations from anybody, on using this charger that came with batteries?

That sounds like the K620-PC "Value Charger", which I have.

Don't use it, it's a piece of junk.

It's a two-channel 2.8v charger, meaning it can only charge exactly 2 or 4 batteries at a time, and for AAs it puts out a constant 180mA. As far as I know, it has no termination methods whatsoever, so if you leave the batteries on too long, they get damaged. Longer than "too long", and they leak, melt, and otherwise do nasty things. To top it off, it takes around 14 hours to fully charge empty 2100mAh batteries, which makes it tough to keep an eye on unless you never sleep.

I strongly recommend picking up a decent basic charger to use instead, like Duracell's CEF23 "Mobile Charger" (which I also have). There are a few threads here that mention it and other good ones.

I have been looking into chargers, ran a search on this Kodak charger, and found this. Shoot! I've been using my camera battery charger for the last three years:(

Seeing as how technology progresses constantly, and this thread is at least a year old, are there any pointers as to good quality, affordable chargers that can be hooked up to either the wall outlet/computer, or a solar charger?

I just don't want to ruin my Eneloops I have coming to me:eek:
Thanks all!

How do you tell? Just plug one in and see if it burns it out?

I think mine charges one at a time...and it takes at least a full day to charge em. That's a trickle charger, right? Shouldn't be a problem...but then I'm no battery expert:rolleyes: I still use alkalines from time to time!
