The 5A is neutral white at 4000k. Neither cool, nor warm.

Cree also has "warm white" emitetrs which go as low as 2700k, which is household long-life incan lamp territory.

As far as WG/WH bins being considered warm -- all that happens there is that those happen to fall at the edge of the cool white bins, which means in most case that they end up being "warmer" at the expense of being more greenish. The neutral white category "3A", which is currently sold by Cutter, is actually also 5000k and overlaps with WH, but the difference there is that the neutral white emitter, which uses a different phosphor mix, will actually have a reasonable white-balance, and won't be greenish, even though the CCT is the same in both cases.

Where are these warm white 5A bin Crees on DX, and are they complete lights or just emitters? A search for "warm white" doesn't yield the required information. Also, what happened to all the Rebel LED lights? I bought a Fenix L2T v.2 when they came out which had a nice warm tint, but I gave it away and the new L1/2T v.2's with the Q2's appear to have a cooler tint, as just discussed.

DX does not advertize these as being Warm White -- I'm not even sure they're really aware of it, the only indication is that they mention the color bin code as 5A, and a color temp of 4000k in the tech. specs.

These are whole dropins, but I've been buying them and gutting them to get emitters -- as it's the only source I know of for ~4000k neutral white crees at the moment.

No for now.
The warmer the tint, the less efficient the LED so lower brightness.
R2 bins are available in WC, WD, WF, WH tints. (5000-7000K)
3A is available in Q3, (5000K)
5A is available in Q2, (4500K)
7A, 7B, 7C is available in P4, (3500K)
8A, 8C is available in P3. (3000K)
See charts in post #6 for colour.

Your best choice now for the brightest warmish tint is probably a R2 WH (5000-5500K)
This is more greenish while the Q3 3A is more pinkish.

You can get the LEDs (except the Q2 5A) at cutter.

I have a couple Fenix L1T v.2 Q2 and they are both on the cool side. In fact, out of all the Fenix lights I have owned, only the Luxeon P1s had what I would call a warm tint. I ended up selling them because I prefer cool tints.
