LAB scale + color?

Curious...

If you DIY made a 4-emitter light using red, yellow, blue, Green LEDs in equal amounts on the LAB scale. Would the resulting beam be white? Would it have a higher CRI than a single white LED?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that while it would look white, the spectral curve would be more like one with four spikes, rather than one approximated by a black body radiator at the same colour temperature, and thus have a potentially worse CRI.

I'd say yes and no -- it wouldn't be black-body full spectrum, but like the RGB used on monitors you get good rendition if well done. Remember that our eyes aren't full spectrum either:

I had no idea that the peak sensitivities of the "red" cones and the "green" cones were so close together. Good to see Thomas Young's name coming up again in that article.
