Does an LED need an "override" feature that reduces output when it gets hot? I just ordered one from Night Vision Company (256 Lumen Cree Q5) and they state that it does not have said feature, but using a metal head like on my 6P it will do just fine in any weather I use it as long as I don't leave it bezel down or something stupid. Thoughts?

MagLEDs do that. The Mag design is great for the relatively low-powered incans that it was built for, but it's poorly suited to a high-powered LED PR dropin like the MagLED.
