Does anyone know if :

1. It is possible to replace the Q5 with an XPG R5?
2. Would it make the light brighter or lengthen runtime ?
3. Would the beam profile be changed significantly?

Thanks

I would be very interested in this, but for a ITP A3 EOS and I think is the same problem.

1. Yes
2. Yes, and cooler too for some odd reason...
3. It's wider, but still pretty usable.
:naughty:

Why would you ever want to mod that LF3XT ?? I have one and the tint is awesome, the beam is perfect, and the UI is simple/useful. IMHO it's just a great light.

Actually, I understand - I wanted to mod it, but decided that I should just get something similar in size and then take my destructive interest to that host instead. I'm currently in almost the same predicament as you - modding an xr-e to an xp-g and improving (at least retaining) what I like about the light.

My concern is with setting the emitter up into the reflector enough to aide in capturing more light from the wider (115 degree) optic. The 90 degree Q5 is a different design, and getting a flat-backed, metal reflector close to the soldered + and - on the board isn't going to be pretty....
