Light for work in prison

The Jetbeam Jet III Military R2 is another great option.

Very good quality light with good brightness plus pretty straight forward user interface. I would definately also look at the Raptor RRT-1. Also a very good light. Very bright, good for isolating areas and blasting it with light, and great quality to boot.

check it out at http://www.jetbeam.com.cn/links/

Also look at some FENIX lights if you prefer, I recommend the TK30 and a TK11/TK12/TK10

+1 for Jetbeam's Jet-III M

Tighten head for max output, loosen for any mode that you set (min to max, slow blinking mode to fast strobe, SOS, beacon mode you name it).

If you don't want to program the damn thing, then JUST USE IT. By default its tighten head for max, loosen for low.
Its built like a tank, you won't be disappointed!

I've been in Corrections over 20 years and have found the Fenix TK-10 to be the best I've used. Really bright when you need it and a long lasting low beam with just a twist of the head. Tailcap will lock out so you don't have to worry about accidentally burning your batteries up and it will use rechargables.

I'm sure there are other lights that are similar, but this one is built tough and is simple to operate. That's important
when seconds count.

Thanks guys really appreciate all the info
I shall do a lil home work and pick 1
that best suits my needs

A little over your 150ish but the Malkoff MD3 with Wildcat head. I love mine. Very Very bright, simple slight head twist to go from Hi to lo and much smaller than I would have imagined.

You could also get an MD3 with an M60 module (you would have to buy an MD2 head separately). With that setup you could either run 3 CR123 or 2 18500 cells for a rechargeable option with no dimming.

I would also look into the Jetbeam Raptor line of flashlights. The brightness is easily adjusted through a selector ring.

Yea I'm not looking for any thing
with a single cell I'm looking for a duty
light let's keep it simple 2 cells and low/high
mode
Fenix L2T. Two cells, 150 lumens on high, twist the head for 16 lumens low. Has a momentary-on ability that is great for peeking briefly in corners, too.

You should go check out ElectronGuru here. He has the Old Surefire standby... with one hell of a twist.
+1 on that.

You want:
- high + low mode
- 2 primaries
- $150

I suggest Nailbender's XP-G single-mode drop-in. [ 2XCR123a = Up to 2 hours run-time. ]
Because you'd want high output reliably you don't want 3 modes with memory of last output used.
Like the E1B you don't want 2-hand activation.
(I gave my father a Quark Turbo XPG and it was bright! Nailbender's should be brighter.)

The XP-G's beam is such that though very bright it's great for up close work.
You won't need a low mode that your E1B doesn't have.

Sooo:
$35 XP-G drop-in
$90 stock Surefire C2 (pocket clip) off eBay
or $60 stock Surefire 6P (no clip) off eBay
+ $20 Normal stainless steel bezel w/ tool
= $115 - $145

If it seems too complicated don't worry! It's not!

I've been a CO for over 21 yrs. I've worked the yard (My whole career has been on night shift) for many years. I carry the RRT-1 for most uses - especially spot lighting individuals from long distances. It is a great blinding tool also. I also carry the Ultrafire RL 2088 for broad area flooding capability. It lights up whole barracks at a time. A final flashlight I carry on my duty belt is the SpiderFire L2 Cree Red LED for night dorm checks so not to destroy my night vision. Up close, it is blinding ( 220 lumens ). I am presently awaiting the RRT-3 as a replacement for the RL 2088. While the 2088 is great...I just gotta have The JetBeam as it has promise to be much brighter. You always want redundancy in your equipment anyway. There are also situations which dictate a type of light best used. If you were to only get one...The RRT-1 is so useful on the Yard...and for its size...unbeatable as a thrower. I use it as my attention getter and aggressive inmate blinder.

I have photos of all my lights in real use conditions under Tora. Please look at them.

A 18650 host with a XP-G R5
A SSC P7 / MC-E
A smaller EDC XP-G

I own several SSC P7's , and there wonderful .
My best is a tweaked MTE that can pull 3A + measured at the tail from a single 18650 , and really lights things up .
