I'm about to place my first order for 6~8 lithium ion 16340 cells, I' thinking this might save me a few bucks. Is there anything I should watch out for when I charge the for the first time. Right now I'm using 18650 cells without a hitch.

Since you already use 18650 cells, no need to issue the standard Li-Ion noob warnings :)

What charger are you going to use to charge the 16340 cells?

It's a TL-100 from Battery Junction, they've told me that it well handle the 16340 cells. I thought before I shell some buck for 50+ XX123 cells I'd check the new Lithium Ion technologies. And I'm a sucker for new technology. Anyway the 16340s are going to be used in most all my LED units except for INOVA's. From what I've read to date 16340s don't fair well in incan units or is this a myth?

Can't really comment on the incan & 16340s...all my lights that I use Li-Ion cells in are LEDs.

The only word of caution I would advise is that you make sure the lights you are going to use the 16340 cells in can actually handle the extra voltage of the 16340.
4.2v fully charged vs 3.0 volts of a CR123 primary (multiply by the number of cells needed for a particular light).
