After a while now of keeping an eye on flashlight developments my fiance has now become interested in flashlights and she even just ordered me an LD15 for me to stick on a key chain. I bought her an E01 about a year ago and she loves it but now that I've got 117 lumen coming in she said she'd like another budget light to stick on her chain but brighter. She want's a clicky but I assume that for the most part, a key chain light won't have a clicky. She also wants a 1 or 2 mode light. I know there is the ITP A3/Maratac but are there any other AAA lights that meet those criteria?

Main features she wants;
Less than 25-30 bucks
Can be put on a key chain
Would like a clicky but a twisty would suffice
No more than 1-2 modes
AAA or even AA would work

Thanks!

Do a search, there are dozens of posts like this that have enough answers to keep you reading for hours plus someone has linked them all up to make it easier for you.

There isnt going to be a light that will give you a better output and quality than a maratac as the itp is good but the styling is ugly and just plain cheap. The maratac is a great light and will be more than sufficient.

Also if you want a really good light that is really worth the money you should check out the photon rex as it will do anything under the sun and is rechargeable. 40+ lumens and is really bright and is lighter than couple keys. This would also classify as a cute light too. Look at battery junction as they have the best prices on them and i have a handful of them. Tons of flood and with a throw of an easy 50+ feet, best color rendition and will charge on any battery on 3v or less. Best smallest light out there for 17 bucks. You dont here much on here about it but atleast give it a look.

hope this helps

I very much second the Photon Rex. Not anywhere as "pretty" or as tiny as its sister the Photon Freedom, but terrific output, and very easy to use. It has a "clicky" switch--click on for full brightness, or press and hold for the light to come on at its lowest setting.

Another big plus as already mentioned, it's rechargeable using regular batteries. The Photon Rex is a very under-appreciated light on CPF, IMHO. I have been using mine almost daily since they were introduced in late 2007.

Caveat: Two recent Photon Rex lights had ugly yellowish and greenish beams. Don't know if it's a recent quality control issue, or if I just got duds. They were purchased as gifts, but I can't bring myself to give out lights with such ugly beams...

Multi mode in a AAA format , rare ! And the cheaper ones tend to have a Use bye date [ Cheaply made ]

The Maratac / ITP are about the best AAA lights money can buy [ Under $30USD Shipped to your door ] I own 3 Maratacs , and really like them a lot . and will hopefully pull the pin on a ITP shortly . The only other AAA possibly worth considering might be an Akoray , but there single mode , Ive ordered one , but I dont know what the cheese cake is going on at KD ATM ..

It's impressive how ITP has made such a place for itself in the market with then coveted high end budget. I don't own one but it seems like they have pretty much ended the long standing keychain edc debate with the A3. Of course there are still tons of great options, but there is no other category that seems as dominated as the ITP dominates the keychain.

For a keychain light running on a single, common, AAA cell; I have to agree.

But for pure minimalist EDC, the Photon Freedom has earned the permanent spot on my keyring.

The best I can think of isn't really all that budget for its size.

The Illuminati is a pretty nice light, same size as the itp A3, but using the XP-G emitter for a good brightness/efficiency boost. It is also titanium which is a lot prettier than aluminum (though itp sells Stainless steel ones which look tons better).

It has 3 modes like the itp, twisty. If she really wants the maximum brightness, this is one to consider.
