Looking for a basic LDO

Just as title says, I'm looking for a basic constant current LDO circuit. "Low Drop Output", I insist in the "Low"
The usage would be to drive several leds in series (say 3 or 4) up to 1A (500mA is OK).

The MAX1916 is a nice example of simple LDO, but too "limited".
