Anyone know where I can get something like this? Something like a neoprene or nylon sleeve (that fits the forearm) that I could mount a light to for running at night. Don't like headband type lights.

Something like in the link below only smaller, something that would accept smaller fenix type lights. Have looked high and low and just cannot find anything.

The ultra-simple version of this ist just a strap around your forearm, possibly two straps. Should work - OK, sorry - it DOES work well with fenix LD/ quark size of lights (1 or 2 AA cells), at least for me, YMMW and all that. Big bonus if the light has a sturdy clip (improved retention) and a lanyard (safeguard against slipping out of the strap).

Of course fumbling with a strap (possibly two) does not really qualify as "tactic*l". But for hands-free illumination of more boring tasks it works well...

And - an elastic strap is probably more comfortable than a inelastic strap, unless you wear thick clothing.

If you must wear your light this way I recommend very small lights with a clicky switch. I attach my Maratac AAA light to the watchband on rare occasions, but never for running. There is just too much hand movement. Once the tactical, James Bond, I am so cool novelty wears off, I find my H501 attached to the belt is a much better option.

Maratac on watch band. Cool and tactical looking but limited usefulness. Twisty is a PITA for this application

H501 on belt. Center mass produces less movement. Wide floody beam makes light path less woobly.

Zebralight headbands can be pulled tight enough to fit around your arm. I frequently wear mine snugly around my neck when I dont want it on my head.

H501 would be my suggestion.

This is really common in diving, called a 'goodman' set-up. Lots of handles, adapters, oxycheck makes a neoprene 'sock'
I know i've posted in a prior cpf thread about this.

i use my quark 2aa for jogging. they have that strap accessory that comes with it so you dont have to deathgrip to hold it. your hand can be relaxed.

Thanks, I really appreciate the info!

I took a look at the quark handgrip that 4sevens sells (is that what you're talking about)? How exactly does it go on your hand? Will have to search the forum and see if I can find some pics of it.

Thanks!

Interesting, I've just been hand holding my light when running, this looks comfortable & simple.

one loop on the front end of the flashlight. the other loop at the end of the flashlight. your hand is between the rubberstrap and the body of the flashlight.
you can probably still use the neckstrap tied onto the wrist for extra security. don't think it's necessary though.
