I really like the feel and size of the light. I would love to have something like a luxeon rebel in there. It thought with the tiny size of the rebel, there might be enough room to make something work???

When driven at low current, would the tiny board on the rebel be enough?

Any ideas where/how to install a driver?

Probably the only way to have adequate heatsinking would be to replace the stock switch with a metal plug and use a tailcap clickie (in which case you'd probably be better off just buying another light).

There's actually enough room for standard sized power LEDs like SSC or CREE but none of those are more efficient than regular 5mm LEDs at extremely low drive levels, so you may as well use a 5mm

I'd suggest a $5.25 cut SMJLED from the Shoppe for a focusable mod with extremely long runtime (10 hours on 2AAA!). It has four dies stuffed into a 5mm package so is essentially four 20mA LEDs in one, and plugs right into the stock bipin holder.

Just remember it only has a low mode
