I know that Gene says these are good for at least 10 hours with 2x123 cells. I've seen Big Waffles runtime chart with the very long 2x123 cell runtime of 18 hours and 14 hours for 3x123 cells with much higher output. Does anyone have any other data?

Sounds like you've got most of the available info already covered.
I think there's an M61 thread (so large that it's difficult to use), an M61L thread, and an M61W thread IIRC?
I doubt that there is any add'l info that you haven't read yet on CPF though. :shrug:

Malkoff M60LL is my favorite Malkoff module. Mainly because it will run on basically anything:
1x18650, 1x123, 2x123, 3x123, 2xAA, 3xAA... 2x18650, 2x18500. and so on.
I am looking forward to M61WLL but it probably will not replace the M60LL, for me.
With M60LL:
On 2x123, you get 50 lumens and 18 hours.
On 3x123, you get 95 lumens and 12 hours.
I also ran it on 2x18650, max lumens and max runtime as well. Do not recall the runtime but you will get tired of it before it quits. To do it right, you should leave it overnight.
But you can estimate the runtime with 2x18650. Assuming no voltage drop with M60LL:
If 3x123 = 3*3V*1550 mAh = 14 Watt-hours
2x18650 = 2*4.2V*2900mAh = 24.4 Watt-Hours.
Meaning with 2x18650 cells, your runtime will be 174% of your runtime with 3x123 cells, or 21 hours at the full brightness of 95 lumens.
M61LL should do even better than this
Nice emergency lite for sure. I think I will put mine into FiveMega 3P clone.

Got the 3P body and put M60LL in it. Nice. It exceeded my expectations - basically it has a very long runtime to it. I lost track of it, somewhere between 10 and 20 hours.
Surprised nobody else runs Malkoff M6xxLL modules on 1x123. It's a most useful combination.
The lumens obviously are lesser than on 1x18650 or 2x123, etc. but the runtime longer. And it's very compact. Plus you don't ever have to worry about cell mismatch.

I plan to get M61LL in addition to M60LL, they do not replace one another. Nice to have both. M61** however should have better runtime as it's more efficient.

@ 1hr. 4.09V, @ 2hrs. 3.99V @ 3hrs. 3.93V @ 4hrs. 3.87V @ 5hrs. 3.83V - Stopped the run, as this is my cut off point for Li-ion Cells. Cell recovered to 3.84V which is interesting for me. Nikon Australia recommend that their Li-ion Battery will give better results if charged when it reaches 40%, it also says that it will have a longer working life. They also go on to say that for an even better performance their battery should be depleted once a year.
Most Photographers that I know or know of both professional and amateur charge often, not religiously at 40%. If I've done the math. correctly (AW's percentages) then 40% is 3.84V. Does any of this have any relevance for the Flashlight user? I have BTW, started to charge Li-ion cells when they get to or about 3.84V. This would seem a reasonably safe level to discharge to but will it extend the cells' performance?

Agreed, I've had mine about 7-8 months now. It is nice. Also, I have the M61WLL in a SF 9p in my personal vehicle. Nice utility that can handle almost any roadside emergency.
I could not agree more and this is my absolute favorite combination; I own many Malkoff drop-ins and the vast majority of them are of the L or LL designation from both runs (60 and 61). I think they are incredible, especially with the myriad of options and runtimes and ouput depending on one's tastes. My favorite is my Mcgizmo 1x123 McClicky pack with a Ti VME head and an M60LF.. great combo.
As for runtimes, the only formal tests I've done have been with the high power modules, but I will say that I've used the L and LL modules with both AW protected and IMR 18650s on camping trips and have never had to change batteries, even for multiple day outings. Honestly, going in with a low power Malkoff on a rechargable with some primaries as spares... not sure you could run out of light.
And... to my eyes, outdoors in practical usage, not sure I could tell you what the major difference is between the M61 and M61L outside of a lot more runtime.
