Google Map showing aerial view of Old LA Zoo.

It will be very dark:
Moonset 5:45 p.m. (almost a new moon regardless)
Sunset 7:03 p.m.
End civil twilight 7:28 pm

Park rules to be aware of:
Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash at all times.
Alcohol is not permitted.

Here's a link to many pictures of the old LA Zoo as it looks today. There are lots of places to explore if you remember to take a flashlight.:D You might also recognize this place from several past TV shows and movies.

If you would like to bring something for the raffle, please place it in an envelope or some sort of packaging. I have extra 9x12 envelopes if needed.

Special note: Larry (tvodrd) will be appearing with his famous tank searchlight (AN/VSS-3A). It's the same light that will be featured in an upcoming show this spring about flashlights, airing on The National Geographic Channel.

I am in and will probably be bringing SkinlessMonkey.
I will let him reserve officially.
I will bring something food wise too and will post soon.

Take Care,
mtbkndad

I am in. Now that there is a set date, I will see if any of my friends want to go too. I could have my girlfriend make a huge bowl of her excellent pasta salad. I am looking forward to this.

Regards,
Mark

My brother and I spent many an hour on many a weekend wandering the old zoo when we were teenagers. We'd pedal over there, wander for half a day then pedal home. Some very good memories.

Especially if Larry makes it with his itty-bitty Sherman light.
I'm waiting for him to check-in. He did say he was a go before and most likely will be again.

Post #1 updated. I finally saw the pot-luck items in the edited posts. If you want to add or amend a pot-luck item please make a new post and I'll be sure to see it. I also added some pictures from our NorCal event last year, and a nice shot showing a featured attraction you don't want to miss. :D

The GF and I are in. She might make something for the pot luck, possibly a caesar salad, but I'll leave that option open for now.

Is this flashlights-only, or are lasers OK too?

Hello All, I will bring some food for the potluck, my Six-D Maglite (Xenon bulb) to help light it up, and lastly a nice flashlight for the raffle.

My wife may or may not come along.

That really does look like a lot of fun....and that AN/VSS-3A looks insanely cool! I'll have to see if I can make it there.

Whatever you want to bring that's legal to possess and used in a responsible manner is perfectly ok.
