Los Angeles Area Flashapalooza - Saturday, March 17th, 2007

Date and time: Saturday, March 17th, 2007, 5 pm to 10:30 pm
Place: Former L.A. Zoo site, Griffith Park, Los Angeles, California
If you are approaching the park from northbound I-5, this is your exit. It will snake you over the freeway. Next look for Crystal Springs Drive and turn right.

If you are coming southbound on I-5, exit on Los Feliz Boulevard and turn right when you see Crystal Springs Drive. (green followed by red arrows on picture)

Once one enter the park and are driving northbound on Crystal Springs Drive, make a left at this stop sign. You should start seeing florescent yellow CPF direction signs too.

Follow the road as it curves to the right. There will be another stop sign, then the old zoo sign.

Parking is plentiful and free.
From the parking lot (GPS: N34 8.060 W118 17.13) it's about 100 yards up a small hill to the park area.

It will be very dark:
Moonset 5:45 p.m. (almost a new moon regardless)
Sunset 7:03 p.m.
End civil twilight 7:28 pm
Park rules to be aware of:
Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash at all times.
Alcohol is not permitted.
Here's a link to many pictures of the old LA Zoo as it looks today. There are lots of places to explore if you remember to take a flashlight.
You might also recognize this place from several past TV shows and movies.
If you would like to bring something for the raffle, please place it in an envelope or some sort of packaging. I have extra 9x12 envelopes if needed.
Special note: Larry (tvodrd) will be appearing with his famous tank searchlight (AN/VSS-3A). It's the same light that will be featured in an upcoming show this spring about flashlights, airing on The National Geographic Channel.
Please post if you are attending. Also please indicate how many others you are bringing so we have a general idea of how big our group will be.

We are having a potluck, so if you can bring something please post and I'll add it to the list below. Mr Ted Bear will be catering in chicken at $3 per person which includes plates, cups, and utensils. There will be one small propane stove for cooking hot dogs, beans, etc.
