does anyone know if they are made? im planning on using some in a modded mag for my mom, and i dont want to have to charge them all the time. i googled it, but i couldnt really find what i was looking for. i know sub-c's are ment for high discharge, but i know from experience they handle lower current draws just fine, plus they fit perfectly into the pvc tubes im using as spacers, heehee.

NiCD are lower self discharge and are available in SubC factor, but you would have to cycle these batteries properly to protect them against memory effect.

I have used the 5000mah Elite sub-c's from cheapbatterypacks, they are pretty good in my rop high. Probably only need a charge once a month, they are still fairly new though, so they may start loosing some charge after a while yet.

Heads-Up: LSD sub-c sized cells Now Available

LSD Sub-C cells are now available retail.

Browsing an Australian electronics magazine, and a prominent Australian electrionic component chain store has them in stock.

They're not cheap, at A$9.95 each, but it's nice to know they've hit the market.

Hi, I have two each 7.2 V packs of those cells made from the same supplier (NiMH I think). We use them in my son's R/C car. They cells are great - self discharge is reasonably low, but not zero. Certainly plenty of power after sitting for 6 months.

As a practical matter, while R cells are really demanded for regularly used lights, for most consumers, they would be better off with a 2 x primary CR123 based light. For many people, a light is used so rarely that 10 year battery shelf life is more imortant that the R feature.
