Luxeon pronunciation?

Given the luck-see-on lah-tur-ee, it's obvious that "luck" has to figure in the pronunciation. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

I've never had to say it either. But I've always seen it as if two words:
Lux (luks) - The International System unit of illumination, equal to one lumen per square meter.
Eon (EEon) - An indefinitely long period of time.

Do you think this might be where they got the name? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif lights a long time!

That could actually be 100% correct. Many big companies spend $100,000 to consulting firms for names that 1) are not already in use somewhere and 2) have a cute tie-in to the company or product and 3) sound "modern".

I worked for Pacific Bell, which spent that much for the name "Pacific Telesis". An ugly name if ever I heard one.
