Luxeon U-04 on 2 x CR123?

Hello all:
I think I know the answer here, but just checking - Can an older, Luxeon U-04 be run on two 123's? I have one I'm running on an 18650, but since I'm picking up a U-04 SE I was thinking about passing the older one on to my dad. I keep him supplied with 123's for his Surefire, but don't want him worrying about rechargables. I'm assuming since the light is DD it's probably not good. Can someone confirm that??

From 0 to 10 modder level you need skills on level 4 to modd your old U-04 to be fitted with a Barbolight "pill".

If not modded you will fry your LED if you put on it 2 x CR123.
