Maglite Rechargeable VS. SL 20X

I'm trying to decide between these two lights.
Which one do you think will have a tighter focused beam, brightness,
and decent throw?
Are they pretty close, or is one better than the other?
I need the battery to last not more than 50 minutes.

Having used both for duty I think both are very solid I just prefer the SL-20X over the Maglite. I can't really say why I just think the SL-20X is one of the most durable lights made. That thing is indestructible! But given the fact that you can do a mod from Malkoff Devices for the Maglite and it sounds, from Gene's earlier post, like there is now a mod in progress for the SL-20X you have several mod choices available to you. I had JS do up my SL-20X and it is now re-born into a SL-60! JS does amazing work and this light gets used 5-6 nights per week. Absolutely Awesome!!! He is also talking about possibly doing another run of his drop-in mods for the SL-20X. Between JS and Gene Malkoff...I don't know if there ever was a better time to own an SL-20X. Not sure if this helped but good luck!

I purchased my first SL-20X through Galls about 10 years ago when I first became a police officer. I still carry that same light and it still works very well...even better after the pimped out overhaul from JS! I will probably pimp the other SL-20X out with a P7 drop in from Gene Malkoff! Are those mods super easy or for the more experienced?

The mod from JS was actually installed by him. I basically explained to him that if there was a way to some how screw up putting windshield wiper fluid into my Tahoe I could manage it! I am probably could have figured it out but he was gracious enough to do the work for me! The drop in appears to be a fairly easy set up and looking back I probably could have managed. JS knew this was my primary work light and I just wanted it done correctly by someone who is much more skilled than myself. Again, JS was awesome and the light is $h!t HOT!!! If he does another batch I would highly recommend getting on that waiting list. ITS IMPRESSIVE!

Thanks for the advice. I used to do private security work and now I may be facing some situations working for local government when a good, bright, HD light would be a good thing to have.
