I wish to purchase a universal charger. Is the MH-C777PLUS-II Universal a good choice. I want to have the ability to charge both NiMH And Lithium ion in packs and individual. Is this a good charger or does anything compare? Need input!

Mine worked fine until it went kaboom recently. I had tried to charge an 18v battery pack and it turned out the unit was only rated for up to 14v. I was a little disappointed in the post-detonation support I got from the factory.

I have the earlier version. Without the plus-II. It has always baked my batteries and been flaky. I found a very cold solder joint where the power supply plugs in. Fixing this helped some of the flakyness but not all and it still bakes my batteries even though it has a temperature sensor on it. I found the customer service to be worse than the charger! One of the Maha people who emailed me tried to distance his company from the 777 saying that it was an old design and was not manufactured by Maha.

Never another Maha for me thank you!:thumbsdow

Some of the hobby/RC chargers might be your best bet. My next one will most likely be a Triton.

Best of luck

I love the Triton! I have used it to charge 11.1V Li-Ion, 8.4V Nimh 3300 mah, 16.8V Nimh 4200, 12V leadAcid from small battery backup units...basically, it will charge just about anything. All you have to do is make a small adapter to create a plug for your batts.
The max rate of 5A trails off when you get ~14V. Seems like it drops to ~3.5A with my 16.8V Nimh packs. I really like being able to set the peak sensitivity mV/cell. If I have a really close matched pack of cells, I can use ~5mv/cell and it charges them up to a very high level, w/o too much over-charge. If it is a non-matched pack, I can lower it to 3mv/cell.
