Maxa Beam vs Titanium L70

Both are HIDs, both have 75W, both jave a concentrated 1° angle, both claim to have about the same range ... but the L70 costs with 1000$ only 40% of the Maxa Beam which costs 2500$ => this sounds almost too good to be true.

Apart from the price, is there a considerable other difference between these two lights?
Are they in truth more or less equal in lux and range?

They're two totally different lights; the Maxabeam is a short arc, meaning it produces an uncommonly tiny pinpoint of light, which is what gives it its incredible throwing ability. The L70 is a standard HID, which has a larger light arc; excellent for massive flood and massive output, but there's no way to focus it into a singular tight beam the Maxabeam. Get the HID to light up an entire length of street and everything on both sides, get the Maxabeam to light up only what's on the end of the street.

Starhalo nailed it on the explanation, the short arc Maxabeam is a completely different animal compared to the L70

Can you point to the data you're looking at that shows the L70 having a 1 degree beam? In talking about "range" both lights might project light to a certain range but the CP of the MB will be significantly higher at the same range.

Guess he refers to this:
"Highly Adjustable/Focusable Output (Spot/Flood); Rotating reflector adjusts beam focus from 1 to 15 degree; narrow spot to wide flood."

It´s bullet point three from the feature list on the vendors site.

I have trouble believing that the L70 focuses to an angle of 1 degree based on the bulb and reflector it's utilizing. I guess we'd have to see beamshots or video.
