Can't remember if I've seen this mod mentioned, but if anyone's wondering if it's possible, it is.
I have a Z57 that developed a bad switch, so I decided to see if I could put a McClicky in it. After removing the boot retaining ring, the boot, and the old switch, I found the ridge that the SureFire switch rested on around the middle of the tailcap to be an obstacle to the McClicky. I solved the problem by running an 11/16-20 tap into the tailcap from the end that goes on the light body. I re-installed the boot and retaining ring and threaded in the McClicky and I am happy with the result. A reamer from the boot end or carefull Dremel work might solve the ridge problem for folks without the proper size tap.
